How Your Face Shape Can Help You Choose a Wig You’ll LOVE
Let’s talk about something that can make your wig journey so much easier…
your face shape.
Now before you roll your eyes and think “ugh, rules…” — this is not about boxing you in or telling you what you can’t wear.
This is simply a starting point—a way to narrow things down so you’re not overwhelmed staring at hundreds (okay… thousands 😅) of wigs.
Because at the end of the day?
👉 If you love it, you wear it. Period.
But if you’re feeling stuck or unsure… this can help guide you in the right direction.
💫 First Things First — What Is Your Face Shape?
Most faces fall into one of these categories:
- Oval
- Round
- Square
- Heart
- Diamond
And no… you don’t need to overthink it or measure with a ruler 🙃
Just look in the mirror and notice:
- Is your face longer than it is wide?
- Do you have softer curves or more defined angles?
- Is your forehead wider than your jaw?
That’s enough to get you in the ballpark.
💁🏼♀️ Let’s Break It Down (The Easy Way)
Oval Face
You’re the “lucky girl” of face shapes—almost everything works on you.
✨ Try:
- Long layers
- Beachy waves
- Sleek straight styles
- Bobs and lobs
💡 Tip: If anything, avoid too much height at the crown—it can make your face look longer.
Round Face
Soft, equal width and length—super youthful and beautiful.
✨ Try:
- Long layers
- Styles with volume at the crown
- Off-center or side parts
- Waves that start below the chin
💡 Tip: Avoid super blunt bobs at chin length—they can emphasize roundness.
Square Face
Stronger jawline, more angular features (hello, structure 😍).
✨ Try:
- Soft waves or curls
- Layered cuts
- Side-swept bangs
- Shoulder-length or longer styles
💡 Tip: You want to soften the angles, so think movement and texture.
Heart-Shaped Face
Wider forehead, narrower chin—very feminine and balanced.
✨ Try:
- Chin-length bobs
- Soft waves
- Side parts or curtain bangs
- Styles that add fullness near the jaw
💡 Tip: Balance is key—bring a little volume to the lower half.
Diamond Face
Narrow forehead and chin with width at the cheekbones.
✨ Try:
- Chin-length or shoulder-length styles
- Side parts
- Layers that frame the face
💡 Tip: Avoid too much volume at the cheeks—keep it balanced.
Rectangle (Oblong) Face
Longer than it is wide, with more straight lines and less curve.
✨ Try:
• Styles with volume at the sides
• Soft waves or curls
• Curtain bangs or fringe
• Shoulder-length or shorter styles
💡 Tip: The goal is to add width and break up the length—so think fullness at the sides rather than extra height on top.
💬 Real Talk From Me
I used to overthink ALL of this.
Like… am I square? round? slightly oval-ish on a Tuesday? 😂
But here’s what I’ve learned after trying more wigs than I can count:
👉 These are guidelines—not rules
👉 Confidence matters more than geometry
👉 The “right” wig is the one that makes you feel like yourself again
Or honestly… like an even better version of yourself 💁🏼♀️✨
